"what would you do"

so in this week week of english 914 we were suppose to finally finish "Maus" all the way through. through out this whole book Vladek and everyone else in the book were set with decsisions that would set a story in totally different directions. many of the desiscions that i'm talking about are like killed or be killed, to run or to stay or even to the heavy decsions of trust. this is what the story of maus was built upon.

through out the whole story vladek, anja and im pretty sure the rest of the jewish people had the desiscion of to trust peolpe or to not to. during this time of war and the holocaust many people had to really trust people but you couldnt trust people as far as you can throw them, you cant even trust your own friends or family members.one desiscion of trust that first comes to mind is the time when vladek runs into this one guy that has been folowing him inside a town and starts talking to him in yiddish and tells him to check out the black market. this could possibly be trap to wrangle up the jewish people, but if i was in his place i'd probally do the same thing as him because at this time none of the jewish people or any of the holocaust victims knew of what the nazi has had planned. another descion that comes to mind is the desiscion of rather anja and vladek should give up richieu to a polish governess or to just keep them. as we all should know that when this first oppertunity came up they passed on it but they eventuall gave him up. perssonally in my own opinion i would not give up richeiu because no matter what i believe my son would be safer with me than anyone else but if you are going to give up your son just do it the first chance you get because you have to do it like a band aid, quick as as possible. finally one big descion of trust is when vladek and his family and also some of his friends were given the oppurtunity to leave and escape rthe country but during this time people knew of the camps, but should they take the risk of trusting the smugglers are should they not trust them and find anotherway? as we all know by now that trust these smugglers is a bad thing because they end up double crossing vladek and his group, but i wouldnt have done this from the beginning if i were in vladeks shoes because they had good staying with mrs. motonowa so why just throw it away?

with the last desisions they led into alot of tie ins into my next choice of decisions which is rather in some of vladek and anja's decisions of rather they should stay in fear or risk the chance of being caught to get out of poland. through out this book they always are set out with a choice of leaving or staying like the last example that i had in the begining of where they risk the chance oof leaving the country by the means of smugglers. and like i said before i would still not risk leaving the country because i do not trust those smugglers and everything was good at mrs. motonowa's so why mess it up. another decision of stability is in chapter five of book one, in the last part when every thing looks like they are in the clear, but yet some of vladek's group decides to go out of hiding and to bribe a nazi guard to let them go free in which he decides "ok" but vladek wants no doing of this. so in the conclusion of thisis that we come to find out the guard shoots vladek's friends. in this part i would have to agree with vldek and stay because thier is like no way you can trust a nazi, especially if you were jewish.oh and another desicion that 0just came up is the time when vladek was already placed in aushalwitz but they believe they are going to be free because the war was coming closer and closer to the camps so him and a small group decide to stay in the camp during the round ups and to just hide out till the alli soldiers come near. so they get civillian clothes and enough food to last so everything is set but they decide to leave because they heard of a rumor that the germans were going to burn the camp which they did not. so back to the question what would i do? i would actually stay because ifigure that if i go with the nazis i was going to die anyways so my as well risk my freedom with this rumor as it comes , because doing everything to get ready for this escape is just a total waste then.

finally the this last desiscion is the biggest one and probally one of the hardest deciscions is the one of killing. with a book abouth the holocaust this is a major desision because this was the holocaust and it wasnt just the nazis that were killing, but it was also the jewish people killing eachother. in one moment in the book when vladek and anja plus thier group were hiding in the attic they happen to come upon a fellow jewish man who was "looting" and spotted them. the group eventually pulls up the guy to question him, within the group they debated about rather they should kill him because if they let him go chances are he will tell a gustapo about them, or can they trust him to go on his way? we find out that vladek lets the guy go but gets turned in like the rest of the group thought. personally if i were in this desision i wouldve tied the guy up and kept him hidden until i was ble to find another place to hide. another desision of life or death i would say is the nazis, i believe the nazi didnt have to kill but their life probally depended on it, because the nazi are a twisted group. one nazi that i believe that was sort of nice was the one that vladek would say hi to in the aushwalitz, until he left for a while then he got really insecure. i believe that they probally told this guy some thing because as you remember that in the beginning of the war vladek was a soilder but didnt want to shoot but was told to so he shot in the air. but this brings my point that the nazis didnt have to kill that they couldve just been like vladek and shot in the air instead of killing.

maus

todays blog im going to be writing about the class book "Maus". This is an autobiography/ biography written by Art Spiegelmen. Spiegelmen was an underground comic book artist until he became noticed which sent him to main line comics.maus is a story of a son trying to connect with his father and late mother by learning about their time in the holocaust.

the thing i really enjoy about this book is that it's a comic or a graphic novel. i have always been a comic book guy ever since i was little but, when it came down to school it was always reading books. so i had to basically seperate my school readings with my personal ones, but since this is a comic im basically getting the best of both worlds. the good thing that comics help with is the visuals of how these people lived. if this was just a book it would leave you to use your imagination to try and picture the scenes but with a comic it is already drawn out for you.

the other thing i really liked about this book was the "simplicity" of the book but it really brought a serious story to tell. this story is about the holocaust one of the worlds most nastiest things to ever happen, but they were able to kind of lighten the mood by using the characters as animals instead of people. also that even thought it is written in a simplistic way they dont fright away from what the story is about and that is the holocaust which was horrified with too much death espesially in a time of war. this is expressed in the story which comes to the third reason why i liked the story.

i also like the way that this story stuck with the truth. what i meant from this is that as serious as this story is they tdidnt sugar coat it and they said what needed to be said and didnt hide nothing. one example that comes to mind is after art's dad is telling art about his girlfriend, and her craziness, he tells art dont put this in the book, but he eventually did. also since this is a comic book the serious is lightened but after a while we for get that these peolpe are drawn as animals and see them as people and we can actually symphathize with them and actually feel sorry. one moment in the book i know it really affecteed me because i felt really bad for the guy. the reason for that i think is because i actrually seen an episode of opera and it really touch me it was probally one of the saddest things i have like ever seen.

So in the last feww c hapters of that I have read since my last blog entry things have been kind of heating up in the book. When i say heating up i don't mean like it wasn't already full of action, but what i mean is that we know what eventually know what happens but know we can actually find out what happens when there captured. before any of this happens though anja asnd vladek have to go from hiding place to hiding place, which this is utterly impossible. the two of them make it through this by family members in the inside of the nazi regime. this isnt just a family favor though anja and vlade always have to pay family or not. these people, or more like an attitude or a state of mind, are called a kombinator. this makes you really, "think though if i was in the holocaust would i be a kombinator or would i just help out no matter what the risk?" another question to awnser is if i was would this be right i mean not only lawfully right but also morally?

for anyone who doesnt know about the book then you are definatelly not goinbg to get this blog but for those that do they'll know what's going on. vladek first mentions the term kombinator on page 118 hegoes on to give a definition of a kombinator , according to vladek, is "a guy who makes kombinacya, a schemer... a crook".

now that we know the definition of a kombinator we can finally ask and answer the question if we were in the halocaust would we be a kombinator? simple qustion right well that's what i tought but i found my self debating over this all weekend and also found myself flip-floping my decisions mor than an un expierenced president. at the end of it all though i came to an conclusion that kind of went both ways. in my conclusion i came upwith thati would be a kombinator.the one reason why is because vladeks cousin haskel was a kombinator and he survived through out the war. another reason is that it is posibble to save my family if i was a kombinator, i figure that if i'm helping out in someway i can basically buy time so i can live by making an escape plan especially if im close to the guards i can know where they are at at all times. but during my time as a kombinator i would be like haskel and hlp people but wont charge i wll kindly accept donations though but none is needed and this would just be something morally i would do because this is a horrible time and i would help out anyway possible along as i dont get burnt in the deal.
like i said earlier though earlier though this was a hard choice for me to make, but not only because there is a lot pros and cons but also because this effects with some moral desisions. for one is that if i was able to be like hskela kombinator will i be able to kill someone else to play my role and if i d will i be able to handle the weight of that burden and have tht person or peoples blood on my hand? then you think no i can't do that but then you think what about my family or friends. no one in thier right minds will want any ill will on them or will want there family to suffer especially the way you hear about the rumors about aushulwitz. so there is basically no way you can answer this but in my opinion i say this is morally not right, but during this time i would have to think aout my family and how to help them because i would always put them first before anything.

"MAUS"

for todays blog im going to be writing about the class book "Maus". This is an autobiography/ biography written by Art Spiegelmen. Spiegelmen was an underground comic book artist until he became noticed which sent him to main line comics. the good things about this book is that it is a graphic novel. even though it is a graphic novel it's not filled ith super heroes fighting evil doers but it actually tells a story of someones life in one of the worst time in history. aand even though this is a comic writing about a serious situation it doesn't water down this situation it tells it like it is and thats why i like maus.

the thing i really enjoy about this book is that it's a comic or a graphic novel. i have always been a comic book guy ever since i was little but, when it came down to school it was always reading books. so i had to basically seperate my school readings with my personal ones, but since this is a comic im basically getting the best of both worlds. the good thing that comics help with is the visuals of how these people lived. if this was just a book it would leave you to use your imagination to try and picture the scenes but with a comic it is already drawn out for you.

DC Comics "Blackest Night"

Alright finally i can do something different for my topic. Anyone that truely knows me knows that i'm a bif fanboy. i love everything comic book related. this is what i really wanted to write a blog about but i thought movies would be easier. finally though i can get alot of stuff off my chest on whats going on in the comic book world. to be percise im going to be talking about whats been going on in the dc universe because i kind of perfer dc over marvel. anyways i'll be talking about the blackest night. the blackest night is the best event to come from dc after final crisis. the blackest nighty is a comic book with a great story line. it also has beautiful artwork and also i love the way it had everyone in the dc universe involved in the series.
this event from dc first started with the prelude issues of the green lantern corps during the war of light. The blackest night is a main stream event that began in june of 2009 with its first issue issue zero was released at the comic con in san diego. this is a limited monthly series, with eight issues not including issue zero, who was written by geoff jones. before i go on thier is a few things that you must know first to get this event the green lanterns are not the only lanterns in the universe, the are accompanied by the rest of the color spectrum: Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Indigo-Violet, who have been at war with each other right before this event. and also another big thing you must know is that bruce wayne a.k.a. batman is dead.
the blackest night is a real short limited series but that is what gives every issue its greatness. what i really like about this story line is that you can get a sense of the characters emotions. the reason i say this is because with each lantern corps thier is there is an emotion that rules over that corps. another reason i like the story line is because the action it. i know that every comic book has action but this one in partically was action paced. i say this because this has about every character in the dc universe involved with it. also i loved the shock value that this story gives epecisally in the middle issue. the part im thinking of is the part in issue 5 when in the end batman who is dead comes back alive as a black lantern and shocks everyone but then spacks everyones emotions whick kills all the superheroes and transforms them into black lanterns.
a story line is nothing though if it doesnt have beautiful artwork and there is no exception here. the genius artist who worked with the writer during this event is ivan reis. i like this artist because he is no rookiehe has drew for companies like dark horse and marvel which shows he knows what he is doing. also the other reason i love this artwork is by the sense of detail that is given. they were so carful with the detail that they even got the detail in the rings in which theyy didnt have to do because we know what the look like because the logos of the rings are useually on the chest.
though most of the tie ins of the event werent drawn by the same artist they played a crucial part in the story. i really like that they had tie ins in this event because this series was monthly so without tie ins you would basically have to wait month by month to get back into this series. i also liked that the tie ins are there because it shows how big this event is. they basically had the dc universe in here not only did they have the main heroes and the green lantern corps but the even threw in comic book characters in which most of us have never even heard of but with them in the event it can spark peoples interest in these people.

So I have seen this movie a while back but never got a chance to review it. Personally my opinion of "Cop Out" was a silly waste of time. In other words, it's just what we need right now. This really didn’t catch my attention of a movie I have to see but looked good enough for me to see. This outrageously action comedy that riffs on cop movie clichés even uses those movies to lay down the main plot for them plot.it also has a excellent director in my eyes, who actually brought many comedys in which many people love It's got automatic weapons, Tracy Morgan in overdrive and Bruce Willis always doing what “Bruce Willis” does." Even if you think this movie is a mess, you have to admit it's no boring.

The actors in this movie where alright, with bruce willis who is no veteran to cop movies does his normal work with an attempt of humor. While on the other hand they bring in his partner, who brings the absolute comedy to the film. People call tracy morgan “too much the spotlight hog”, but here his monkeyshines gain momentum. The nuttier he acts, the funnier he gets. He overplays everything. Willis did normal bruce by acting serious but smirk is firmly in place, but for the first time in years he seems actually amused and looked like he enjoyed this movie.

"She's Out Of My League"

Hello followers david here yo bring you another blog about another movie in the theathers. So today was date day and what better date movie then “She’s Outta My League”. So this movie was a romantic comedy, starring some actors with familiar faces but the first time we seen them star in a movie. This movie was a funny movie but not the funniest movie out but none the less this was a truly inspirational movie. This movie also makes you question about I guess you call an “high school scale” but many of us “grown” people still use today. And besides all the hidden notes that they give in this movie I like the actors in this film.

. This film has excellent actors which actually make excellent actors, especially for these actually not being big name stars. Most of these stars we might have seen as extras or co- stars in a film I have to give a tip of the hat to them because the actually held their own by themselves. Also that I don’t know about everyone else but I can reall relate my life to these characters. I say that because all the actors in this film have there own personas in which I can relate to each of my friends which I like because it sort of puts you closer to the film and really makes you want to route for the underdog star because you can relate to him wit your self

First im going to explain why I believe this movie is truly an inspiration. To explain my logic I have to first explain the movie to you in a nutshell. This movie is about a guy that really has nothing goin right for him in his life. Until he meets this girl which is totally out of his league, long story short they end up together after all odds are against them, this brings me to why I believe it is inspirational. I blook up to this film because every once in while we as humans are self conscious and this blocks us mentally from achieving what we want and performing at a 100%. But this movie shows that although that you may be self conscious that everyone is self conscious about one thing or another. So you shouldn’t let any thing hold you back not even old rules in which we used to follow.

This brings me to another point that we as a society sometimes believe in a imigainary rule in which a lot of people would believe in and really holds us back. This scale im talkin about is the scale of hotness, this scale explains a level in which people or kids would believe in and the level in which people are suppose to be in each other. this is the reason that the movie is called “she’s outta my league”. Most of us as kids would follow this rule, hell we might even still follow it. I know I did and this always kept me at a level and always afraid of actually reaching any higher. This movie shows that this scale blows though because its not what level you are and what you have to settle with. it is about what you feel in your heart and if you were to give someone a chance without following the scale and go on a date to see this movie andyou might see that you might truly be happy with some one outta your league
